Ismertető szöveg: István Dorfmeister the Elder (1729-1797) was a painter of Austrian origin, a native and resident in Sopron/Ödenburg, Hungary, well known for his frescoes painted mostly throughout West Hungary, and left an extended art heritage. He belonged to the fashionable Viennese school of his age, but being a minor master, unlike his expensive contemporaries, was available for lower-budget chuch decoration, as well. Interesting enough, his Christian name is widely used in the Hungarian version. The memorial plaque, a work of Tamás E. Soltra, was unveiled at the wall of Holy Spirit Church, Sopron, in 1997, on the 200th anniversary of his death.
