Képaláírás: The castle's erection was financed by its owner, Gyula Andrássy, the first Prime Minister for Hungary in the history of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (1867-1871) and Joint Foreign Minister of Austria-Hungary (1871-1879). Presumably it was built on Ignác Alpár's conception between 1880-1885, in Neogothic and Romanticist style (other sources mention Artúr Meinig as architect and 1886 as completion of the building). The building recalls the highly esteemed castles on the Loire, France. The most interesting thing is that the building in its original version has some accordance with reflection on time: it has 4 entrances, 12 towers, 52 rooms and 365 windows, according to the number of seasons, months, weeks and days in a year, respectively.

A kastély neves újkori képzőművészeti alkotása Péli Tamás roma festő 9-szer 4,5 méteres pannója. Andrássy Gyula külügyminiszter a francia kastélyok mintájára emeltette, s ő létesítette az épület háta mögötti angolkertet is, ami ma is szépen gondozott park.
